The communal main area of Jackalberry Camp is the heart and soul of the camp, thoughtfully designed around a towering Jackalberry Tree (Diospyros mespiliformis), also known as African Ebony. Elevated above the surrounding landscape, this striking structure blends seamlessly into its natural setting, offering sweeping views over the wilderness while preserving a deep connection to the land.

From here, guests gather in the open dining area to share meals and stories, relax on expansive viewing decks that overlook the plains and waterways, or cool off in the splash pool during the warmer hours of the day. Discreetly integrated within the main area are the camp office and kitchen, ensuring smooth operations without disturbing the tranquil atmosphere. Shaded by the ancient Jackalberry and open to the sights and sounds of Nkasa Rupara National Park, this communal space embodies the spirit of the camp—natural, welcoming, and deeply rooted in its wild surroundings.
